Bristol City Council – the local authority responsible for the provision of all government services within the City of Bristol. They operate a flexitime system to help staff achieve a healthy work/life balance.
Recommended by another authority, we’ve been supplying Bristol City Council with our flexitime solution since 1998. More recent developments required the need to operate our TimeVue-Pro Plus flexitime attendance system without using clocking terminals. During this time, the Finance & Procurement departments were relocating to new offices. The Council wanted to reduce the amount of hardware at the new location. The idea was for a simpler cleaner looking office environment.
At that time, we had a beta version of our cloud hosted Software as a Service (SaaS). We offered our long time customer the opportunity to trial the system. They had a deadline to meet and needed their current flexitime attendance system converted to our Cloud Service within a certain time frame.
Colston certainly put the system through its paces as only a busy City Council department knows how. We are very grateful to him in helping us fine tune our system. This was mostly due to the differences in functionality between the desktop version they’d been using and our Cloud Service.
The whole project took around 2-3 weeks, completed 5 days before the deadline achieving the results we had promised. Bristol City Council now have a flexitime cloud attendance system that is more adaptable and convenient to use, using at least 95% less of their computer resources. Staff can now log their flexi hours via a web browser from any location using a pc, smartphone or tablet device, without the need for any hardware or software to be installed on the server or pc’s. Another benefit of having the application and data on our secure cloud server, it makes software upgrades and backups a more simple less disruptive process. Which has put a few smiles on IT managers faces too, since our SaaS requires little or none of their time or resources.
